These teachers and students took the “extra step” in career education."

Holly Springs High School Career Expo
writes, "Holly Springs High School is providing a unique opportunity for students to learn about a wide variety of careers by talking to area business leaders. On December 13th, they will host their 2nd Annual Career Expo designed to give students an up-close look at the world of business.

Career Expo Goals:

- Expose students to a wide variety of career options
- Give relevance to the school curriculum and careers of interest
- Further student knowledge as they plan their course selections
- Understand post high school education requirements, if applicable


This year, over 75 businesses including the Town of Holly Springs, Glaxo Smith Kline, SAS, Cisco, Bland Landscaping, Novartis, Sukeena Law Firm, NBC17, Progress Energy, NC State, UNC, Piedmont Air Conditioning, WRAL-TV, AXA Advisors, the National Weather Service, Wake County Parks, Marketplace Magazine and many more will participate in the Expo. Students attending the Expo are instructed to dress for success!

Jenny Mizelle receives Outstanding Leader Business Award
writes, "Holly Springs resident Jenny Mizelle, who serves as The Town of Holly Springs’ Economic Development Director, received an Outstanding Leaders Award for 2006-2007 from the Wake County School-to-Career Council at their annual Volunteer Breakfast Celebration held September 25, 2007.

Mizelle chairs the Holly Springs Business Alliance serving Holly Springs Middle School and Holly Springs High School, in conjunction with career development counselors at both schools. She has spent the last two years establishing the Business Alliance committee, helping them manage project goals that meet student career goals and mentoring needs, while developing partnerships with local businesses and the Holly Springs Chamber of Commerce. The premise of local Business Alliance groups is to solicit business mentoring and job shadowing opportunities for students, not funds.
