| Holly Springs Business Alliance Recognizes Teachers & Students who took the “Extra Step” in Career Education |
cbrowns4 writes, "The Holly Springs Business Alliance presented Kim Willoughby and Stephanie Bristol at Holly Springs High School and Marilyn Jesrani and Paige Blankenship at Holly Ridge Middle School with Extra Step Star Awards in December. These teachers and students took the “extra step” in career education."
Both teachers, Mrs. Willoughby and Ms. Jesrani, went beyond expectations in including career exploration in their regular classroom curriculum. Resource speakers and classroom projects enhance their courses. The students, Stephanie Bristol and Paige Blankenship are each preparing for their future careers in very concrete ways, with internships, research and practical experience.
The Extra Step Star Awards for the month were sponsored by AXA Advisors, an active member of the Holly Springs Business Alliance. The Holly Springs Business Alliance is a group of volunteer business leaders that work with faculty and staff from Holly Ridge Middle School and Holly Spring High School to promote career education and expectations in the school curriculum. The Business Alliance encourages students through internships, job shadowing, career exploration and mentoring. The goal is for our high school graduates to be prepared with the skills they need to enter either the workforce or the post-secondary school system. If you would like to become an Alliance member, mentor, or sponsor one of our many activities, please contact Chairperson Jenny Mizelle at 919 557-3906
