| Rampage, United, Excite in Season Finale |

United and the Rampage met for their traditional season-ending match Saturday afternoon at Grace Church. The two rivals played another thrilling match with end-to-end action and United came away on top, 2-1.
Early in the match the Rampage was the sharper team. Yates McConnell, Logan Kirby and Saddharth Vasisht sent in several shots toward United goalie Sam Weaver and defensive line of Zach Gault, Ethan Sheflin and Nicholas Kroll. But United also had it's chances, and the team capitalized when team assist leader Matt DeBella flicked the ball in the air and Sheflin headed it in the net. The two, along with Ben Kirby, continued to pepper the Rampage net but couldn't get anything else by goalie Greyson Jonczyk.
Later in the half Gault fed the ball to Colin Attarian, who took the ball all of the way down the left side of the field and outraced everyone for a shot that just got past the outstretched arms of Jonczyk, and United was up 2-0. The Rampage fought back, and within a minute Daniel Witham took a Colby Burd pass and broke through the United defense to cut the lead to 1.
The second half produced a rare event for both United and the Rampage: no goals. The two teams were each other's defensive equals as both had chances but were thwarted by strong defensive plays. Late in the second half the Rampage looked to equalize when Austin Pyles sent a punt to Kylie Mcelroy, who passed to James Morton. Morton broke through on the left side of the field and launched a shot across the goal. United goalie Patrick Hoffman dove, scurried, and deflected the ball with his outstretched fingers for a Rampage corner kick. The corner kick crossed the net to an awaiting Nico Gutierrez, who cleared it out and helped preserve the United win.
United finishes its final game at Grace Church, and the regular season, 12-1-1 (10-0 TYSC) and can focus on the Cool Spring Hawks, the team's opening round match Saturday in the Wrangler/McDonald's Classic. The Rampage match was the last for United at Grace Church. The team moves to U12 in the Fall. The Rampage dropped to 8-3-2 (6-3 TYSC), but return to Grace Church, and under 10, next season.
