Holly Springs Mayor Dick Sears Participates in Local Green Building Celebration

HOLLY SPRINGS, N.C. -- Anderson Homes and sister company Vanguard Homes celebrated their award of the Energy Star® 2007 Partners of the Year by hosting an event at their Bridgewater community in Holly Springs on April 30th. This marks the 2nd consecutive year that the building company has been recognized by EPA and DOE divisions of the U.S. Government.

Holly Springs Mayor Dick Sears was the honored guest at the event. "I was very proud of the personnel from Anderson Homes and their contribution to the environmental improvements in Holly Springs,” said Mayor Sears. “I know this is a very special honor to again receive the 2007 Energy Star Partner of the Year Award, and I look forward to returning next year for another like celebration.”

The celebration also included the release of the New Green Guide Section of Anderson and Vanguard’s Homeowners Manuals, which promote ways to maintain and improve upon energy efficiency and green living in a new Anderson or Vanguard home.

The leadership of Anderson Homes also took the opportunity to discuss Anderson’s green building initiatives and the company’s role as an environmental steward within the local communities in which they build.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) named Anderson and Vanguard Homes as Energy Star® 2007 Partners of the Year for its outstanding contribution to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by building innovative “Peak Performance Energy Star Certified Homes.”

The Partner of the Year Award is given to a variety of organizations in recognition of their contribution to the construction of energy-efficient homes. A small group of winners were selected from over 8,000 organizations that participate in the Energy Star program. Anderson and Vanguard Homes were one of only seven builders selected in the country and the only homebuilders in the Carolinas to earn the award.
