What would you change about Holly Springs?

We need to let the town know!

Need to get this started..........what issues would you like to see addressed by candidates in this next election cycle? Two council seats will be at stake in November.

Look at the business Dream Sports in Apex does.
We need an Ice Rink in Holly Springs. The town
has the money to fund it thru Parks and Rec.
A very high percentage of Hurricanes season ticket
Holders come from the Apex, Fuquay and Holly Springs area

I'd like to see the town plan more sidewalks, safe space along main roads for pedestrians and cyclists to travel. This could increase quality of life, not to mention cut down on traffic.

I live only 1 mile from a grocery store, but the traffic and lack of road shoulder preclude a safe walk or bike ride to get there.

I miss the days when the speed limit on Bass Lake Road was 45mph. Since then, they've lowered the speed limit and added a crosswalk, which I can't say I've ever seen anyone actually use.

Personally, I don't see the benefit of using crosswalks. In places where nobody has ever used a crosswalk, they're not likely to start using one just because it has been made available. Not only does putting a crosswalk in the middle of an often-used road not make the road safer, it probably decreases general pedestrian safety by implying that pedestrians have a "safe zone" in the middle of the road when, in actuality, it is never completely safe to cross a road. Crosswalks don't prevent people from being injured and killed by cars, they merely make people feel unjustifiably safe (and thus careless) in the midst of such dangers.

As far as sidewalks: I'm all for putting in sidewalks on certain roads, if it is absolutely necessary, but doing so should justify raising the speed limit in such areas.
