
THE KICKIN GRASS BAND PRESENTS “WE’LL HAVE A BLUEGRASS CHRISTMAS” AT THE HOLLY SPRINGS CULTURAL CENTER ON DECEMBER 9, 2007
Raleigh, NC – The Kickin Grass Band will present their popular Bluegrass Christmas Concert, “We’ll Have A Bluegrass Christmas” at the Holly Springs Cultural Center on Sunday, December 9, 2007. The show will be professionally recorded for online video footage and a live DVD.
This family-oriented holiday show includes traditional carols, original numbers, haunting solos and beautiful duets, all woven together by the skillful entertainment and musicianship you've come to expect from The Kickin Grass Band. They'll perform not only bluegrass Christmas songs like "Christmas Time's a Coming", but also well-loved carols like "Silent Night" and their original Christmas Song "Meaning Of Christmas”, soon to be released on Christmas In Carolina on Blue Circle Records. The band will also perform a set from their first two CDs and their upcoming release.
“We’ll Have A Bluegrass Christmas” combines the traditions of family, bluegrass and Christmas into a warm and entertaining holiday show sure to be a treat for kids from one to ninety-two. Performance starts at 6:00pm. Tickets to the event are $10 and can be purchased through www.kickingrass.com, etix.com, or the Holly Springs Cultural Center . Box Office hours are Monday – Friday from 9am – 12pm, and 1 – 4pm. Fans are encouraged to buy early for best seat selection.
The Kickin Grass Band has been performing neo-traditional bluegrass for over five years. Most of their original songs are penned by guitar player and lead singer, Lynda Wittig Dawson, who has a flair for invoking the past while keeping material fresh and current. Bass player, Patrick Walsh, joins in on lead and harmony vocals, and mandolin player and vocalist Jamie Dawson entertains with his fast picking and fast wit. Add in Matt Hooper’s delightful fiddle and Ben Walters’ skillful banjo, and you’ve got the Kickin Grass sound.
The Holly Springs Cultural Center is located a block from Town Hall in the downtown Village District of Holly Springs. It is convenient to the entire Triangle and is just 20 minutes south of Raleigh 's Interstate 440 Beltline. Developed in partnership with Wake County , their mission is to bring the community together with cultural programs and great events that are diverse, inspiring, festive and memorable.
