Judges announced for ‘NCSC 10th
Annual Song Contest’
 
(Raleigh, NC) North Carolina Songwriters Co-op proudly announces the panel of notable judges for the 2007 NCSC 10th Annual Song Contest presented by Sam Ash Music. The seven judges will choose the best three of eight finalists who will perform live October 13 at 7:30pm in the Performing Arts Theatre at the Holly Springs Cultural Center near Raleigh.
 
The judges for the competition include: hit songwriters Linne Black and Catesby Jones, Lisa McKay-Program Director for WQDR FM, Valorie Miller – folk star and 2nd Place Winner 2006 NCSC Contest, and Philip van Vleck - Music Writer/Critic for Billboard, Dirty Linen, and Durham Herald-Sun. Rounding out the judging panel are Michael B. Davis, owner of Phoenix Entertainment Group and Uptone Pictures and Michael Graziano, events specialist, publishing consultant, and recording studio owner.
 
Jon Batson, board member of NCSC and head of the judging committee said, "We are very pleased with the excellent group of finals judges who have agreed to support our contest this year. The judges have a wide variety of experience and musical backgrounds that will help insure another very competitive and entertaining finals show again this year. We would like to thank all our judges for their support of songwriting and the NCSC."
 
Contest Director, Eileen Batson commented, "NCSC is a non-profit organization dedicated to the support and promotion of songwriters. We have a history and reputation for producing a quality contest and one of the best annual live shows in the Triangle. We open our contest to a wide variety of songwriters by accepting a diversity of music genres from all over the world. We are thrilled to have Sam Ash Music (www.SamAshMusic.com) as our chief sponsor this year."
 
The contest offers over $10,000 in cash and prizes from sponsors Oasis CD (www.oasisCD.com), OnlineGigs (www.ONLINEGIGS.com), GHS Strings, Levy Leathers, Tara Labs, and TAXI, as well as local supporters, The Eastern North Carolina Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, (www.alznc.org), The Curran Foundation, and the Music Loft of Carrboro.
