Holly Springs Performing Arts Center to Host NCSC Tenth Annual Song Contest Presented by Sam Ash Music  

NC(May 4, 2007) - With over $10,000 in cash and prizes, the North CarolinaSongwriters Co-op 10th Annual Song Contest promises to capture a record number of entries this year. The contest is the longest running, non-genre specific song contest in North Carolina.  Contest Director, Eileen Batson commented, "NCSC is a non-profit group of songwriters supporting songwriters and the art of songwriting. We open our contest to a wide variety of songwriters by accepting all styles of music."  We are very pleased Sam Ash Music, The Musical Instrument Megastore (www.samash.com), is the Presenting Sponsor for this year's contest. Sam Ash Music, which has a store on Capital Blvd in Raleigh, has traditionally been a great supporter of independent music, and we are thrilled to have them as our chief sponsor.
 
In addition, we have received platinum sponsorship commitments from www.oasisCD.comwhich is the number one provider of CD manufacturing services for independent musicians, and www.ONLINEGIGS.comwhich provides online booking services for independent musicians and venues. We have also had a generous donation made on behalf of the Alzheimer’s Association, Eastern North Carolina Chapter (www.alznc.org), which we will be promoting as part of this year's contest.

The 2007 contest will officially open June 1, 2007 with a deadline of August 31,2007. Submissions will be received electronically via Sonicbids (sonicbids.com) and by mail-in. The eight finalists then compete in a live performance before a select group of judges at the newly constructed 200 seat Performing Arts Theatre at the Holly SpringsCultural Center (www.hollyspringsnc.us) on Saturday, October 13, 2007. The site is close to Raleigh, has state-of-the art sound, video and lighting systems, a large reception space, and growing reputation for musical performances.
